  • Today I feel alone, where I know it's super important to relax take it easy and just take a moment by moment essentially;  because I know that I have no right to steal anybody else's, as the same that they don't have the right to still mind:  to not rent space in my head for others,  because I know that if I'm just fine I know that I'm focusing on the pain and I need to pray and meditate…. so I see the power of halting before I have to make it amends or essentially apologize for being wrong in such moments as for the grace of God though, that's good early Direction is something I must do so that I and that moment these feelings are not everyone else is so first things first I must go ahead and let go in that God.

Step 12/to give where credit is due I got all of these readings from "recovery HQ" _ but I put them in a Living life on life's terms and to Better care of the message  and you can actually find all of them in Daily Readings and Inspirations

from spadna The Attraction of Goodwill Page 128

"Like so many things in recovery, how we do the work is as important as the work we do."

Guiding Principles, Tradition Eleven, Opening Essay

Many of us have had the experience of encountering a newcomer at a meeting or working with a sponsee who just can't seem to get this recovery thing. We have wished that we could just pour experience, strength, and hope into their minds and hearts, but we know it simply doesn't work that way.

By participating in the hospitals and institutions and public relations service committees, many of us get a front-row seat to newcomers' awakening when we take H&I meetings to inmates or present PR panels to local schools. Initially, some students might attend to get out of class and prisoners to get out of their cells. Regardless of the motivation, many can't help but identify. We see the looks on their faces change from indifference and apathy to relief and understanding. The NA message has a way of penetrating through that tough exterior and getting right to the heart of the still-suffering addict. Sharing openly and honestly, from the heart, is the most attractive thing we have to offer.

If we were to run around like fanatics, proclaiming the spoils of recovery based on our specific gains and achievements, this would be a misrepresentation of the truth. The practice of goodwill in Tradition Eleven comes when we exercise discretion and deliver a simple message: Narcotics Anonymous can work for anyone with a desire to stop using. When the message is clear, recovery can take root.

Today I will be mindful of how I represent myself inside and outside of the rooms, knowing that my story is not the Narcotics Anonymous program and that I might be the only Basic Text some people ever see.

Keep It Simple: When I have listened to my mistakes, I have grown.---Hugh Prather

  1. Everyone makes mistakes. We all know that. So why is it so hard to admit our own? We seem to think we  have to be prefect. We have a hard time looking at our mistakes. But our mistakes can be very good  teachers. Our Twelve Step program helps us learn and grow from our mistakes. In Step Four, half of our  work is to think of our mistakes. In step Five, we admit our mistakes to God, ourselves, and another  person. We learn, we grow and become whole. All by coming to know our mistakes The gift of recovery  is not being free from mistakes. Instead, we do the Steps to claim our mistakes and talk about them. We  find the gift of recovery when we learn from our mistakes.

  2. Prayer for the Day: Higher Power, help me to see my mistakes as changes to get to know myself better.

  3. Action for the Day: Today Ill talk to a friend about what my mistakes taught me. Today I'll feel less  shame.

NA Just For Today:   Sharing Our Gratitude

  1. "My gratitude speaks when I care and when I share with others the NA way." Gratitude Prayer

  2. The longer we stay clean, the more we experience feelings of gratitude for our recovery. These feelings of  gratitude aren't limited to particular gifts like new friends or the ability to be employed. More frequently,  they arise from the overall sense of joy we feel in our new lives. These feelings are enhanced by our  certainty of the course our lives would have taken if it weren't for the miracle we've experienced in  Narcotics Anonymous.

  3. These feelings are so all-encompassing, so wondrous, and sometimes so overwhelming that we often can't  find words for them. We sometimes openly weep with happiness while sharing in a meeting, yet we grope  for words to express what we are feeling. We want so badly to convey to newcomers the gratitude we  feel, but it seems that our language lacks the superlatives to describe it.

  4. When we share with tears in our eyes, when we choke up and can't talk at all-these are the times when our  gratitude speaks most clearly. We share our gratitude directly from our hearts; with their hearts, others  hear and understand. Our gratitude speaks eloquently, though our words may not.

  5. Just for today: My gratitude has a voice of its own; when it speaks, the heart understands. Today, I will  share my gratitude with others, whether I can find the words or not.

Daily Reflections: CLEANING HOUSE

  1. Somehow, being alone with God doesn't seem as embarrassing as facing up to another person. Until we actually sit down and talk aloud about what we have so long hidden, our willingness to clean house is still largely theoretical. TWELVE STEPS AND TWELVE TRADITIONS, p 60

  2. It wasn't unusual for me to talk to God, and myself, about my character defects. But to sit down, face to  face, and openly discuss these intimacies with another person was much more difficult. I recognized in  the experience, however, a similar relief to the one I had experienced when I first admitted I was an  alcoholic. I began to appreciate the spiritual significance of the program and that this Step was just an  introduction to what was yet to come in the remaining seven Steps.
